Safeguarding

Thanington Parish Church is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults.

This document  summarises our safeguarding commitment and is adopted annually by the Parochial Church Council. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies, including the Parish Safeguarding Handbook

Amongst other things, we have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). We undertake a thorough safer recruitment process for all staff and volunteers who work with children and vulnerable adults. We also ensure that all in positions of responsibility undertake the relevant Church of England’s safeguarding training modules.

The Diocese of Canterbury’s safeguarding pages contain further information and links about safeguarding in the Church of England. This includes details of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA), who advises the Parish Safeguarding Officers. For more details, visit the Canterbury Diocese website

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact either:

our Parish Safeguarding Officer, Christa Brodie-Levinsohn, revchristabl@gmail.com

or

the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Paul Brightwell on pbrightwell@diocant.org.
